Tobacco Leaves

€ 599.00

The 'Aristoloches' or 'large leaves' tapestries were in fashion in the middle of the XVIth century. They were mostly woven in the highly praised mills of Audenaerde (Flanders, Belgium). This particular one depicts tobacco leaves, which Colombus had brought back from his voyage and soon to be widely used in Europe.

The tapestry is fully lined with a strong cotton fabric. There is a rod pocket provided on the top.
